Adult Upgrading
also's adult program provides literacy and life-skills mainly for adults looking to join the workforce.

The adult program is for people over 18 looking for an opportunity to upgrade their skills in a safe and supportive environment. Literacy and life-skills upgrading supports the overall goal of working towards employment.
also teachers provide individualized training and support for each learner.
also runs a variety of specialized workshops and programs including cooking courses, art classes, and community connections workshops.
Learners can apply for volunteer opportunities within Heartwood House to gain valuable work skills and experience.
This program is for all learners, including Deaf and hard of hearing, who are:
- over 18
- out of school
- living on a low income
The also adult program runs morning and afternoon sessions Monday to Thursday. The also Deaf Adult program runs afternoon and evening sessions Wednesday and Thursday, and morning and afternoon sessions on Friday. Please see our contact page for our location and hours
Application process
If you're interested in applying for our Adult Upgrading program, please contact Kim Oastler. Adult learners will have a brief phone interview, and then will make an appointment to visit the also program.
Learners who have children under 6 are welcome to use the Children's Program.

The also adult upgrading program supports Essential Skills learning.
