Children's Room Helper

Children's Room Helpers assist in the Children's Program. They volunteer 3 to 6 hours per week on site.

Responsibilities include:

  • enjoying stories and songs with the children
  • encouraging children's play
  • helping with general housekeeping tasks

RAPP Site Volunteer

Reading and Parents Program (RAPP) Site Volunteers distribute the RAPP packs to families at a designated location throughout Lowertown, Vanier and Sandy Hill. They volunteer approximately 2.5 hours every two weeks.

Responsibilities include:

  • visiting designated RAPP sites to deliver the RAPP program
  • describing the contents of the pack to parents on an individual basis
  • facilitating circle time activities with parents and children (optional)
  • providing emergent literacy support to parents

RAPP Resource Volunteer

Reading and Parents Program (RAPP) Resource Volunteers assist with managing the materials required to prepare and distribute the RAPP packs. They volunteer approximately 3 hours per week at also.

Responsibilities include:

  • organizing books and craft supplies
  • photocopying and filing
  • helping to assemble RAPP packs

RAPP Saturday Workshop Volunteer

Reading and Parents Program (RAPP) Saturday Workshop Volunteers help prepare crafts for the RAPP packs. Volunteers contribute a full day on Saturday (lunch included) approximately twice a year at also.

Responsibilities include:

  • selecting and assembling appropriate materials for particular crafts
  • preparing craft supplies and creating craft samples
  • photocopying
