RAPP packs

Reading And Parents Program (RAPP) packs help parents support their child’s language and reading development at home. Each RAPP pack includes a book, activities and either a CD or DVD. RAPP packs are designed for children ages 6 months to 10 years.

In-House RAPP
Our In-House Reading and Parents Program (RAPP) is offered to families accessing any Heartwood House program as a participant or volunteer. Parents can borrow RAPP packs from ALSO for 2 weeks at a time. We have over 50 RAPP titles available. We also have a collection of high interest/lower literacy books for older children who struggle with reading. For more information or to sign-up for our In-House RAPP program, email Kim.

RAPP in the Library
Ottawa Public Library (OPL) has over 90 RAPP packs available for loan, including some from ALSO’s American Sign Language RAPP (ASL RAPP) collection. RAPP packs are at the Beaverbrook, Carlingwood, St. Laurent, Sunnyside, Greenboro and Cumberland branches. You can also request a transfer, and pick-up a RAPP pack from a branch near you.

Family Literacy Library

The more books at home the better! ALSO has a terrific family literacy library available for lending. We have books for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and school aged children. The library is open to anyone who visits Heartwood House. If you are interested in borrowing a book(s) email Kim .
